Alongside our craft cafe, we work with many local professional artists to offer a wide variety of creative workshops and events. From calligraphy and watercolour to stained glass and mosaic. We also run workshops for kids during school holidays such as slime making, fairy gardens and sensory jars.

Spooky Slime Making
Spooktacular Half Term
In this one-hour workshop, children will mix, colour and customise their very own spooky slime to take home. From choosing colours to adding fun textures and spooky themed charms, they’ll enjoy the full process of creating something uniquely theirs. A perfect workshop for kids who love sensory play and getting stuck in.

Halloween Glass Fusion
with Sally from HanSal House
Join Sally from HanSal House for an opportunity for parents/carers and kids to be creative together and make some unique Halloween decorations using a selection of colourful glass. Full guidance is given and a selection of spooky designs to choose from. After the workshop we’ll take your work to our glass kiln to be fired and bring them back to The Makers Millhouse within a week to be collected in time for Halloween. Make either 4 x mini panels, 1 small panel with 2 mini panels or 2 small panels.

Spooky Witch Gardens
Spooktacular Half Term
Join us this Autumn for a spooky workshop where creativity meets imagination. Children will design and build their own miniature spooky witches house and garden, creating a tiny halloween inspired world to take home. They’ll also make a mini witch peg doll and use air dry clay to craft some miniature ghosts and decorations for their garden. This one-hour session is perfect for children who love storytelling, small worlds and a touch of spooky magic.

Pumpkin Painting
Spooktacular Half Term
Get ready for some pumpkin fun, without the carving! Choose your pumpkin and transform it into your very own Halloween creation using paints, gems, googly eyes and lots of spooky stick-on decorations. Go creepy, cute, colourful, sparkly or completely silly, it’s entirely up to you!
Each child will receive their own real pumpkin to decorate and take home, with all materials included. Plus, there’ll be some additional Halloween themed activities to enjoy during your visit as part of our Spooktacular Half Term celebrations.

Adults only session (16+)
Our after hours craft cafe session is designed just for adults only (age 16+), giving you the perfect chance to relax, unwind and get creative in a child free environment. So whether you need a break from the half term chaos, or just want to visit the studio during a designated adults only session, simply choose your favourite project from our craft menu and enjoy creating at your own pace.

with Bespoke Quirky
Come and join Kerrie from Bespoke Quirky to immerse yourself in a relaxed and informal workshop where you will paint, build & create your very own Winter Festive Christmas Cottage to take home with you.
No prior crafting experience is needed as step by step instruction will be given, all materials provided, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere. Choose from a range of paint colours for the cottage and there will be plenty of ribbon choices for frosty the snowmans scarf too.

Macra Weave Workshop
with Pretty Knotty Designs
Come and spend a couple of creative hours discovering the beautiful combination ofmacramé and weaving and create your very own textured macra-weave wall hanging to take home.
Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed workshop will introduce you to a selection of basic macramé knots and simple weaving techniques, showing you how they can be combined to create something completely unique.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your own approximately 25cm wide x 30cm high macra-weave wall hanging, ready to add a little handmade texture to your home – or give as a lovely, one-of-a-kind gift.

Festive Brush Lettering
with Letters by Jenni
Join Jenni, professional calligraphy artist and owner of The Makers Millhouse, for a relaxing and informal festive brush lettering workshop. Perfect for complete beginners, you’ll be guided through all the basics of brush lettering, from how to hold and control your brush pen and create the foundation strokes, through to forming lowercase and uppercase letters and joining them together to create festive words and phrases.
Once you’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to get creative! You’ll use your new lettering skills to make a selection of beautiful Christmas cards and gift tags, perfect for adding a personal, handmade touch to your gifts this Christmas.

Using natural cotton cord and a variety of knotting techniques, you’ll create a collection of handmade decorations ready to take home and hang on your tree.
Perfect for adding a little handmade charm to your Christmas décor or for creating something special to give as a gift. This workshop is completely beginner-friendly, so no previous macramé experience is needed. I’ll guide you through the techniques step by step, with plenty of time to experiment and make your baubles your own.

Personalised Calligraphy Baubles

Join Jenni, professional calligraphy artist and owner of The Makers Millhouse, for a relaxed and festive workshop where you’ll learn how to create a beautiful personalised Christmas bauble using simple calligraphy and hand-lettering techniques.
Perfect for complete beginners, you’ll start by learning the basics of faux calligraphy, an easy and accessible way to create the look of modern calligraphy without needing to master a traditional brush pen. You’ll practise forming letters, names and festive words before learning how to transfer your designs onto a bauble to take home and treasure.

Join Vanessa for this 2.5 hour creative workshop making a birthstone ring from .925 sterling silver. In this workshop, you'll learn how to measure your ring size, how to solder (two rounds), how to shape and texture your rings. Vanessa will attach your birthstone using her micro welder.
Tickets include all materials. You also have the option to order a drink from the adjoining cafe. Come alone or with a friend, it’s always a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Attended for a session in the Easter holidays with my 6 year old, lovely selection of things to make and decorate and beautiful venue. Also was able to order drinks (food also available) from the windmill cafe. We both had a lovely time and will definitely come again!
