Crafternoon Tea Experience.

Combine your visit to our craft cafe with  a delicious handmade afternoon tea from our friends at The Wymondham Windmill Tea Room.

With an extended craft time in the studio and a delicious handmade afternoon tea from our friends at The Wymondham Windmill Tea Room, this new experience is perfect for celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends or simply planning something a little different.

On arrival, your afternoon tea will be prepared by the tea room and delivered to your table 15-30 minutes into your creative session in the studio.

To help make things feel a little more special than a standard visit, all Crafternoon Tea bookings come with half an hour extra to spend at your table than normal bookings, giving you plenty of time to switch off, get creative and enjoy your delicious treats.

Please note that our 'Crafternoon Tea' experience needs to be booked in advance with at least 48 hours notice and payment for the afternoon tea is required in advance to secure the booking. You then only need to pay for the crafts you choose on the day of your visit.

Please note crafternoon tea is available at 1.30pm on Wednesday - Friday (term time) or 2pm (Saturdays and Wednesday-Friday during school holidays).

FAQ's

Below are some of our most popular questions answered. If you have any others ahead of your visit, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Do we need to book?

Whilst not essential for regular visits, booking for the Crafternoon Tea Experience is required as the tea room chefs needs 48 hours notice to prepare. To book your space, please email us on hello@makersmillhouse.co.uk or fill in the form on this page to request a booking. We will then come back to you with availability. If you wish to go ahead, full payment is required in advance for the afternoon tea, and you will only need to pay for the crafts you choose on the day of your visit.

How long do we get at our table?

Each Crafternoon Tea session lasts for 2 hours 15 minutes (30 minutes longer than a traditional session) which gives you plenty of time to get creative. By sticking to your time slot, it allows us to be able to turn the table around before the next booking. If you want to stay longer, you can ask during your visit for availability, however during busy times this may not be possible.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

The Wymondham Windmill Tea Room can cater for all dietary requirements. Please let us know of any at the time of your booking so we can discuss this with them before confirming your booking.

Is there a kids package?

Absolutely, there is a child friendly afternoon tea package available. You can see the current menu for both adults and children here.

What do the prices include?

The prices quoted on our crafternoon tea experience are for the afternoon tea only and also include half an hour extra time at your table in the studio. They do not include any of the crafts as you choose and purchase these separately on the day of your visit. For prices on our current craft menu, please take a look here. Please note our craft menu changes regularly and this is just a sample.

Do we need to pay a deposit?

Full payment for the Crafternoon Tea is required in advance to confirm your booking with the tea room. This does not cover the cost of your chosen crafts which will be payable in the studio on the day.

What happens if we are running late?

If you are running late for your session, please let us know as soon as possible. We are currently working on getting a phone number, however you can email us at hello@millhousemakers.co.uk.

Wherever possible we will try to accommodate extensions, however during busy times it may not be possible to extend your booking time as there may be another booking after you so this may mean it will reduce the creative time you have at your table.

What happens if we can no longer make it?

If you're booking is more than 48 hours away, please contact us to see about transferring your booking to another date. Unfortunately cancellations made within 48 hours of your booking are not possible, as the tea room chefs will have already begun preparations on your order, and in these instances your booking cannot be changed. If you just need to change the time, please speak to us and we will do our best to acommodate subject to availability.

What is a craft cafe?

A craft cafe works like any regular cafe, however instead of ordering food you order craft experiences. These can range from painting such as painting a canvas, to crafts such as macrame.

Simply browse the menu and order your experience and we bring everything to the table for you to get creative and try something new. And the best bit.. you don't need to worry about the mess at the end as we handle all of that for you.

We are also partnered with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room who can supply a selection of drinks and light snacks delivered to your table to enjoy whilst you are getting creative. Due to space we only offer a limited version of their full menu, so if you're looking for larger meals we recommend booking a table in their tea room before or after your visit.

What can we make during the Crafternoon Tea Experience?

We have a range of crafts for all ages and abilities, from painting to crafting and everything in between.

We change our menu regularly to allow you to experience new things on each visit. For the most up to date menu you can check our website. We also have a range of specials each month which can be viewed on the specials board inside your studio.

Please note, whilst we try to maintain high levels of stock of every item on our menu at all times, occassionally it may be necessary to remove an item during your visit if demand has been higher than expected.

What should we bring/wear?

You don't need to bring anything with you, as all materials are supplied for each craft experience we provide.

Please note, we do use high quality professional artist materials in the studio, such as acrylic paints, that can stain clothing and as such we recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy and stained. We do also provide aprons free of charge during your visit.

Are you dog friendly?

We love to meet your four legged friends and welcome all well behaved dogs in the studio. The rest of the site at Wymondham Windmill is also dog friendly with a dedicated dog friendly seating area in the tea room as well as a woodland walk to enjoy.

Do you do parties/private hire?

Yes, absolutely! If you're interested in celebrating a birthday at our studio we would love to hear from you. You can find out more about what we can offer on our parties page or you can contact us.

Is there free parking?

Yes, we are based at Wymondham Windmill near Melton Mowbray and there is a free car park on site for all visitors.
