make your visit extra special
Book a Crafternoon Tea Experience
Celebrating something special, or just want to add something extra to your visit to the studio? In partnership with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room we are excited to offer a crafternoon tea experience here at The Makers Millhouse. Please note pre-booking with payment is required for all afternoon tea bookings with at least 48 hours notice.

We had so much fun here today, it's a wonderful little place with so much choice, nothing is too much trouble and Jenni was so attentive. It's been a lovely experience and well worth a visit. As a fully grown adult it was lovely to release my inner child for a couple of hours!
Frequently
Asked
Questions
Below are some of our most popular questions answered regarding our craft cafe. If you have any others ahead of your visit, please don't hesitate to contact us.
What is a craft cafe?
A craft cafe works like any regular cafe, however instead of ordering food you order craft experiences. These can range from painting such as painting a canvas, to crafts such as macrame.
Simply browse the menu and order your experience and we bring everything to the table for you to get creative and try something new. And the best bit.. you don't need to worry about the mess at the end as we handle all of that for you.
We are also partnered with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room who can supply a selection of drinks and light snacks delivered to your table to enjoy whilst you are getting creative. Due to space we only offer a limited version of their full menu, so if you're looking for larger meals we recommend booking a table in their tea room before or after your visit.
Do we need to book?
We do recommend booking your table before your visit to guarantee availability. You can book a table easily online using our online reservation system. We do however take walk-ins subject to availability. Please note, we require you to book a table for the exact number of everyone in your party (even if not all are crafting). This ensures we have enough space to seat you all. Unfortunately, during busy periods it may not be possible to add exra seats on at a later stage so if you need to adjust the amount in your booking please let us know as soon as possible.
How long do we get at our table?
Each session lasts for 1 hour 45 minutes which gives you plenty of time to get creative. By sticking to your time slot, it allows us to be able to turn the table around before the next booking. If you want to stay longer, you can ask during your visit for availability, however during busy times this may not be possible.
What happens if we are running late?
If you are running late for your session, please let us know as soon as possible by calling 07368 131 857 or emailing hello@millhousemakers.co.uk.
During busy times, if we do not hear from you we can only hold your table for 15 minutes before releasing it to any waiting guests.
Wherever possible we will try to accommodate extensions, however during busy times it may not be possible to extend your booking time as there may be another booking after you so this may mean it will reduce the creative time you have at your table.
Do you provide food?
We don't provide food directly ourselves, however we are partnered with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room who supply a wide range of drinks and food options. You can view their menu here.
We also offer the option of a crafternoon tea. This must be booked and paid for with all dietary requirements provided at least 48 hours in advance. To find out more, check availability or to book please click here.
We are sadly unable to accept any external food in the studio (unless that supplied by the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room) during normal opening hours.
Can we bring our own food/snacks?
For the safety of other guests, we are sadly unable to accept any external food in the studio (unless that supplied by the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room) during normal opening hours.
What can we make?
We have a range of crafts for all ages and abilities, from painting to crafting and everything in between.
We change our menu regularly to allow you to experience new things on each visit. For the most up to date menu you can download it here. We also have a range of specials that change regularly subject to popularity and availability.
Please note, whilst we try to maintain high levels of stock of every item on our menu at all times, occassionally it may be necessary to remove an item during your visit if demand has been higher than expected.Â
What should we bring/wear?
You don't need to bring anything with you, as all materials are supplied for each craft experience we provide.Â
Please note, we do use high quality professional artist materials in the studio, such as acrylic paints, that can stain clothing and as such we recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy and stained. We do also provide aprons free of charge during your visit.Â
Are you dog friendly?
We love to meet your four legged friends and welcome all well behaved dogs in the studio. The rest of the site at Wymondham Windmill is also dog friendly with a dedicated dog friendly seating area in the tea room as well as a woodland walk to enjoy.
Do you do parties/private hire?
Yes, absolutely! We welcome all kinds of celebrations in the studio. For smaller parties up to 8 people, you are welcome to book a table as normal and celebrate during our normal opening hours. You can book this online. For bookings up to 12 people, or to discuss private hire/hosted parties please contact us for availability.
Please note that we cannot give space for additional guests to stand and watch during normal craft cafe sessions, so we ask that you book a table for the exact amount of people staying (even if not all are crafting). Additional guests are welcome to browse the rest of the windmill site during the session. For childrens parties, one adult must stay in the studio at all times.
We are sadly unable to accept any external food in the studio (unless that supplied by the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room) during normal opening hours.
You can find out more about what we can offer on our parties page or you can contact us.
Is there free parking?
Yes, we are based at Wymondham Windmill near Melton Mowbray and there is a free car park on site for all visitors. Â
Do you provide gift vouchers?
Yes, as of October 2026, we now offer gift vouchers. You can find out more here.
Is the studio accessible?
