Looking for a creative way to celebrate in Leicestershire? At The Makers Millhouse, we offer relaxed, hands on craft parties for adults in our welcoming studio at Wymondham Windmill. Whether you are planning a hen party, birthday celebration, baby shower, corporate wellbeing session or simply a creative get together with friends we have options to suit everyone.

Celebrate during a normal visit to the craft cafe
Flexible, self-guided and perfect for a relaxed celebration.
Join us during one of our normal Craft Café sessions and let everyone choose their own craft from the menu. These parties are unhosted, and there's no set party package or guided activity, you simply let each guest pick a craft of our standard menu, chat and celebrate together at your own pace.
For parties up to 8 people
For parties up to 8 people you can book a table online just like any other Craft Café visit. There's no hire charge and everyone simply pays for the crafts they choose on the day.
Please note, we require you to book a seat for everyone staying during the session (even if they're not crafting).Â
For Parties with 8 to 12 people
Want some space to yourself away from the hustle and bustle of our usual studio? Subject to availability, you can reserve our separate party room and enjoy the same self-guided Craft Café experience in your own space.
Party room bookings have a minimum of 8 guests and require a £50 deposit, which is fully redeemable against your crafts on the day.
As our party room is also used for private events and workshops, availability varies and advance booking is required. This is not available to book online so please contact us to discuss availability.
Want to add a food package?
As we work in partnership with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room, we can also provide food options during normal craft cafe sessions. For smaller groups, you can choose to order from the regular Wymondham Windmill Tea Room menu during your visit. For larger groups (8+), or to add an afternoon tea package, these require prebooking in advance so please contact us to discuss options. We require a minimum of 48 hours notice for all pre-bookable food options.
Please note that we do not allow external food (including cakes) in the studio due to health and saftey of other guests at any time during normal opening hours.Â
Can I bring decorations?
We are more than happy for you to bring a balloon to your celebrations or a few minor decorations for the table, however we cannot provide space for large decorations during normal opening hours to maintain a safe environment in the studio for all visitors. (Additional decorations are ok in the separate party room or for private hire parties).

Bespoke Hosted Private Parties
A fully guided celebration with bespoke party packages.
Looking for a more bespoke celebration? We can work with you to create a custom creative package for your requirements. Our private parties include exclusive use of the party room during times when the main studio is closed, guided tuition and all the materials needed for your chosen activity.
You can also finish off the celebrations with a food package through the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room (optional).
Private parties are available for a minimum of 6 and up to 12 and are ideal if you'd prefer a more private and structured celebration where everyone completes the same activity together. Larger parties may be available using our main studio, so please get in touch to discuss if this is something you require.Â
Adult craft parties are available during weekday evenings and Sundays.
Our Core Packages
Modern Brush Calligraphy
Duration: 2-2.5 Hours
Cost: £240 for 6 people (additional guests £28pp)
Get a tailored introduction into brush calligraphy, covering all the basics from how to hold a brush pen, creating the foundation strokes to forming letters and writing words.
At the end of the session you will create your own hand lettered prints and greeting cards.
Painted Glass
Duration: 1.5-2 hours
Cost: £200 for 6 people (additional guests £20pp)
Personalise your own wine or champagne glasses with a hand painted floral workshop. Discover how to use basic strokes to paint beautiful flowers to your own wine or champagne glasses.
Instructions will be given after the session on how to cure the paint at home to make them washable.
Painted Canvases
Duration: 2 Hours
Cost: £200 for 6 people (additional guests £20pp)
Get creative and have fun painting your own canvases with acrylic paints. From painting each others portraits to making your own designs, this classic crafty workshop always provides a buzz and good fun, even if you're not a natural painter. Designs can be supplied to paint, or blank canvases for your own creativity.Â
Create a Cottage
Duration: 2.5-3 Hours
Cost: from £300 for 6 people (additional guests from £40pp)
In collaboration with Bespoke Quirky gifts, build and create your very own miniature wooden cottage. Choose from a range of designs and tailor each to your own taste with paint colours and accessories. Prices vary dependent on level of kit.
Custom Party Packages
Looking for something more bespoke? We work with a number of local artists who can offer a wide range of bespoke workshops and packages. From glass fusion to silver jewellery making. If you have something specific in mind that you would like to do please get in touch to discuss.

FAQ's
What is the difference between craft cafe parties and bespoke private parties?
A Craft Café celebration is self-guided. Guests choose their crafts and create independently, just as they would during any normal Craft Café visit. A private party is a hosted experience where your group has exclusive use of the studio and everyone takes part in a chosen guided activity.
When do you offer parties?
Craft cafe parties are available during our standard opening hours.
For bespoke adult private parties we currently offer these on Sundays or Weekday evenings.
How many can you cater for?
We can cater up to 12 people for both party options. For craft cafe parties, you can book tables of up to 8 online, however for bookings between 8-12 please contact us to check availability.
Our private hire parties have a minimum of 6. In our party room we can accommodate up to 12, but if you required more please get in touch to discuss options.
Can we book the private party room during craft cafe hours?
Yes, subject to availability. For groups of 8 to 12, the party room can be reserved for a self-guided Craft Café celebration. A £50 deposit is required and is redeemable against crafts purchased on the day.
Does everyone have to do the same craft?
Not during a Craft Café celebration. Guests can choose individually from our menu. If you'd prefer to control the options or budget, we can also create a simplified menu for your group.
During one of our private party packages, everyone completes the same chosen party activity together.
What if your private hire slots are fully booked?
You may still be able to celebrate with us in the Craft Café. Craft Café tables and private party availability are separate, so it's always worth checking our normal Craft Café bookings even if we don't have a private party slot available.
Do you provide food?
The Makers Millhouse ourselves don't provide food however we work in partnership with the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room who can provide a full catering package if required. For example the most popular package is a childs afternoon tea. This is charged at an extra price, so if you would like more information please let us know.
Due to this partnership we do not allow any external food to be brought in to the studio.
Can I bring a cake?
Birthday cakes are welcome when you have exclusive use of our party room or during a private party. Unfortunately, cakes cannot be brought into the main Craft Café due to allergen risks. Please note we do not allow sparkler candles at any time.
Can I bring my own food?
No. We don't allow external catering or food within the studio at any time. Food and drinks are available from Wymondham Windmill Tea Room, including pre-bookable afternoon tea packages.
Is there anything else I need to know?
A £50 non refundable deposit is needed to secure your chosen date for all private hire parties or party room bookings.
Final number of participants and full payment is required 14 days before the event.
