Get creative in
our Craft Studio.
Our creative craft cafe and art studio is based at Wymondham Windmill near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire and is designed to encourage people to get together and get creating without the worry of pressure (or the mess!). We work like any regular cafe, but instead of ordering food and drink you order craft experiences from our menu instead. Simply book a table, then choose from our range of crafts that are updated regularly and we will bring all the materials to your table. You can also enjoy a drink and treat from the Windmill Tea Room from the studio during your visit - making it the perfect place to meet with friends, kids or just making time for yourself.
We had so much fun here today, it's a wonderful little place with so much choice, nothing is too much trouble and Jenni was so attentive. It's been a lovely experience and well worth a visit. As a fully grown adult it was lovely to release my inner child for a couple of hours!

Alongside our craft cafe, we work with many local professional artists to offer a wide variety of creative workshops and events. From calligraphy and watercolour to stained glass and mosaic. We also run workshops for kids during school holidays such as slime making, fairy gardens and sensory jars.

Celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday, hen party or just looking for a creative get together with friends? We host craft parties for all occasions in our studio, either as a private hire or as a normal booking in our usual craft cafe sessions.

I’m so glad you’ve found The Makers Millhouse. I’m Jenni, a calligrapher, illustrator and craft lover. Alongside my calligraphy business, I opened The Makers Millhouse in early 2026 from a desire of wanting to create a space where creativity could feel a little freer, a little messier, and a lot more social. This is a place where young and old can come together to craft their way, whether that’s picking a project from our craft menu, joining a workshop, browsing the shop of independent makers or celebrating a special occasion with a craft party.
The idea grew from my love of hands-on creativity and the joy it brings, and from seeing how much calm, connection and happiness making something with your own hands can create. I hope this studio becomes a place where you can switch off, make something you love, and leave feeling inspired and connected.
